About mark

I’m Mark Green, husband and father to 3 great kids (although not really kids anymore), a keen cyclist and have spent my entire working life in London behind a desk until last year when I decided it was time for something different… TBF!

I’m a Sports nut, will watch pretty much any sport, and enjoy playing (although not very good at) Padel and Golf in addition to cycling. Football is my viewing sport of choice, my 2 sons and I are season ticket holders for our local non-league football team, Ebbsfleet United. Probably had more disappointments than celebrations watching them over the years, but wouldn’t miss it for a second.

Family holidays are a must and we try to switch between lazy beach trips and busy road trips exploring new places.

FAQs

What is a mobile bike fit?

A professional mobile bike fit is a service where a trained expert comes to your location to adjust and tailor your bicycle to your specific body measurements and riding style. This ensures optimal comfort, efficiency, and performance.

Why should I get a bike fit?

Getting a bike fit can significantly improve your riding experience. It helps in reducing discomfort, preventing injuries and increasing efficiency and power output. Whether you’re a casual rider or a competitive cyclist, a proper bike fit is essential for enjoying your rides to the fullest.

How long does a bike fit take?

A typical bike fit takes approximately 2.5 – 3 hours, depending on your specific needs and the adjustments required. Our goal is to ensure your bike fits you perfectly, so we take the time needed to get every detail right.

What do need for the bike fit?

Your bike, cycling shoes and your usual cycling attire. It’s important to fit you in the gear you normally ride in to ensure the adjustments are tailored to your regular riding conditions. If you have booked to have additional bikes or shoes fitted at the same time, please have them available.

Can you fit all types of bikes?

Yes, we specialise in fitting all types of bikes, including road, gravel, triathlon, TT, track and static training bikes such as Watt bike. Each type of bike has unique fitting considerations, which we are fully equipped to handle.

How do I prepare for the bike fit?

Ensure your bike is clean and in good working condition. We cannot do a bike fit on a bike which is not in good working order. If you have any specific concerns or areas of discomfort while riding, be ready to discuss them during your appointment as twe will ask you all of this.

How much space do I need for the bike fit?

You’ll need enough space to set your bike up on a turbo trainer and we’ll also have an exercise mat for you to undergo your biomechanical assessments. This is a rough area of 2 to 3 meters squared.

If you could also make sure that any valuable or precious belongings are removed from the fitting space and please ensure that any pets (or small children) are also kept away from the fitting area.

Is a mobile bike fit as effective as a studio fit?

Absolutely! Our mobile bike fit service offers the same level of expertise and precision as a studio fit. The Bike Fitters are trained to a very high standard with continuous on going training especially around biomechanics and complex cases. The advantage is that we bring this service directly to you, providing convenience without compromising on quality.

id match laser guided cleat fit

Our idmatch Footmeter uses a laser to quickly and accurately measure your feet. This helps us record key measurements such as foot length, foot width and metotarsal length.

The idmatch Tiltmeter is a special tool we use to check how your foot sits when you’re actually pedaling. It helps us see if your foot leans inwards or outwards (pronation or supination), which is really important for a comfortable ride.

Finally, our idmatch Cleat Fit system makes sure the part of your shoe that clips onto the pedal (the cleat) is perfectly aligned. We use a laser and cleat stencil to get this just right, so your feet feel great and you pedal efficiently

  in the saddle with mark!

At The Bike Fitters, we believe getting to know your fitter is as important as the fit itself. That’s why we put Mark in the hot seat!

Here’s what he had to say when Bike Fitters HQ threw him some questions

What’s your favourite bike and why?

My next one 😉…. In the meantime, I flip between a Titanium Orro road bike in the winter and a Carbon Trek Emonda road bike in the Summer. I can’t really call it between the 2, as by the time the season starts to change, I can’t wait to get out on the bike that’s been patiently sitting in the garage for me. They are both great bikes!

Best ride you’ve ever been on?

I went to the Lake District last year with friends, and did all the usual routes and climbs, Hardknott Pass and The Struggle being 2 that stick in the memory. Hardest rides of my life but the scenery was out of this world.

If you could cycle anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I would love to do a stage (or 2) of the Tour de France (not the cobbles)

What cycling event do you never miss watching on TV?

Tour de France always inspires me, seeing the fitness of the Pros, riding at the max pretty much every day for 3 weeks on those routes always makes me want to get a longer ride in at the weekend.

What’s the funniest thing that’s happened to you while on a bike?

A few winters back my friends and I made the wrong decision of a road ride one Sunday morning, about 5 miles in, on a slight ascent, whilst in the middle of our group, I hit some black ice, instantly flipped over, taking 2 of my friends out with me. No damage done and the funny side was seen very quickly.

Who’s your cycling hero and why?

Chris Hoy, obviously for his cycling career, but I am currently reading his latest book about how he has dealt with his cancer diagnosis. That is truly inspirational.

What’s your pre-ride ritual?

I have to get all my gear ready the night before, as my brain takes a little time to activate in the mornings. Then, in the morning, I creep downstairs trying to not wake anyone up (we normally head out for our rides early on a Sunday), force some porridge down me, quick check on BBC News to make sure the world isn’t ending, then into the garage, final check on the bike, and I’m off to wait for my friends on the corner.

What’s the best piece of cycling advice you’ve ever received?

HYDRATE… I am not the best at fuelling during a ride, I make the point these days to finish my bidons by the end of the ride. It definitely makes a massive difference, especially for those longer rides.
